Quentin

Quentin came to employment services while still a transition student at Franklin High School.
He has spent time volunteering with his school group at the Interchurch Food Pantry and
folding boxes at a downtown bakery. Quentin was looking for a part time job using the skills he
learned while in the transition program and through his volunteer work.

Quentin enjoys folding boxes and he helps with laundry at home by folding towels. He
thought he might like a position somewhere using those skills. Quentin had a short work
internship at Otterbein in the laundry department folding towels. He enjoyed it very much and
did a good job folding and sorting towels for the residents. Unfortunately, Otterbein did not
have a position to offer him permanently. Visiting other businesses that might need laundry
aides turned up no opportunities either.

Quentin visited many local pizza places to inquire about folding boxes for them. Most of
them told him the same thing. They don’t keep stacks of boxes around like they used to, they
fold them as they need them for orders. It was during one of these visits, the manager of
Domino’s asked what other tasks Quentin might be interested in. Quentin and she discussed
cleaning in the lobby. Quentin and his EC discussed the different cleaning jobs he might be
doing and he was very interested. Quentin’s position at Domino’s was created just for him.

Quentin has taken responsibility for keeping the lobby and front exterior of the store neat.
Some of his main duties include wiping down the counters and chairs, washing windows,
stocking the drink coolers, and wiping out the insulated delivery bags (hot bags). When those
tasks are caught up, he has also helped with washing dishes and wiping down walls. While his
EC is with him, he sweeps the parking lot and picks up trash outside. Quentin is currently
working on learning how to sweep and mop the lobby floors.

Quentin always has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new tasks. His managers at
Domino’s often compliment him on his work and let him know how much they appreciate what
he does. They tell him often that the lobby looks much better now that they have him there to
take care of it. Quentin states he enjoys his job and that his favorite task is washing windows.
